… a man cannot inquire either about what he knows or about what he does not know – for he cannot inquire about what he knows, because he knows it, and in that case is in no need of inquiry; nor again can he inquire about what he does not know, since he does not know about what he is to inquire.

re 1. Bookshops and publishing houses supply their own data or data they have purchased to NEWBOOKS for data management.  Alternatively, publishing houses and bookshops take care of their own data by means of an account for the data hosted for them at NEWBOOKS. If required, NEWBOOKS will organise a subject information service (e.g. for a suggestions list system).

re 2. Bookshops and publishing houses collect the subject profiles of their end customers and connect these profiles via an online administration to the relevant subject information service.  The customers receive thematically pre-sorted, enhanced and standardised title data in the form of newsletters, suggestions lists and RSS Feeds.

NEWBOOKS offers booksellers to host their own catalogs for specialist literature. Additionally we offer data maintenance for all biographical data.

Data maintenace could include:

  • Metadata refinement
  • Detailed classification and addition of keywords to each catalog.
  • Conversion of all catalog data in the standard data exchange format ONIX

To take advantage of these offers will help to reduce costs and to use your titles data more efficiently: targeted search results and a constant data maintanance of your catalog can easily be arranged. Access to the booksellers catalog for further editing is being provided.

Currently we host and supervise following catalogs:
