… a man cannot inquire either about what he knows or about what he does not know – for he cannot inquire about what he knows, because he knows it, and in that case is in no need of inquiry; nor again can he inquire about what he does not know, since he does not know about what he is to inquire.

Online Services – Managed and Fully Integrated

Dienste-Schemata-(final-01a)_Online-Dienste_ENG

re 1. Publishing houses supply metadata and extra information to the NEWBOOKS data clearing point.  The catalogue editing team clean up and standardise the title data.  The academic catalogue editing team allocates a classification to the title.

re 2. Book shops and publishing houses import customer information into their Online Administration of the respective specialist subject information service.  NEWBOOKS produces a newsletter or suggestions lists template tailored to fit the corporate web appearance of the service provider exactly.

re 3. Bookshops and publishing houses select their subject profile from more than 2000 subject areas and integrate the respective Online Service as an option on their own website (this can also be done via Online Administration). It is managed via Online Administration (customer data, reports for chasing up etc.).

re 4. Specialist subject customers of bookshops and/or the direct customers of publishing houses receive thematically pre-sorted, enhanced and standardised title data in the form of newsletters, suggestions lists and RSS feeds. The Online Services are all produced automatically from the NEWBOOKS data base; in supplying their customers with all relevant new publications and advance notifications publishing houses and bookshops will not incur any outlay in time and effort.
